Welcome to Discipleship Class!

1

The Gospel According to Jesus

Welcome to Discipleship Class!  We are starting with a class to help us understand the Bible Jesus used.  Jesus’ bible was the Old Testament, so we need to gain a bigger picture of the Bible which consistently points to the prophecy of Jesus and His work.

2

Kingdom of God

In this class we are going to talk about the Kingdom of God. Jesus talks about it all the time. We need to have an accurate understanding of the Kingdom, so we can live in the fullness God offers.

3

Repent & Believe

“The time has come,” Jesus said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”  What does it mean to repent and believe?  We are going to take an in-depth look into those words.

Next Steps

Congratulations on finishing the Foundations portion of the Discipleship Class. Next up? Next Steps!

4

Next Step

In the next steps, we are going to explore the biblical mandate to make disciples.  Join us in reading and listening to classic resources as well as modern ones to understand better why we need to make disciples.

The Way

5

Family

This is our first core value as a ministry. We are an XA family, and we want everyone to feel welcomed and valued. We love BIG, honor others, protect unity, and invite others in.

6

Salvation & Lordship

Lordship  is seldom talked about among Christians. This is odd because there is nowhere in The Bible where God can be your savior and not also be your Lord.  Let’s dive into a Biblical understanding of Lordship.

7

Grow

One of our three core values in Chi Alpha is “grow.” We choose to intentionally and actively pursue growth in our relationship with the Lord. We do this by building habits of daily reading the Bible and spending time in prayer.

8

Forgiveness

One thing is guaranteed: As you go through life, people will hurt and offend you. It is your choice whether you hold it against them, harboring resentment, or you forgive them as Christ has forgiven you.

9

Holy Spirit

Many Christians struggle understanding the person and work of the Holy Spirit because He is often the least talked about. But not only is He the Third Person in the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), He is also God’s GIFT to His children. The Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead, lives in US! How great is that! The Holy Spirit teaches and equips us to boldly follow after Jesus AND fulfill the Great Commission.

10

Leadership Rights

James 3:1 says “Not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.” The authority and power that comes with being a leader has enticed mankind throughout history. The lure of power has been the demise of many; this is how the devil became the devil. Jesus flips the role of a leader on its head. He defined leadership as servanthood: “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”

11

Healthy Leader

We all want to be healthy leaders, but what is a healthy leader? In this class, we explore what a healthy leader is as well as some habits that will help you become one.  Habits are choices we make to form a pattern of behavior through repetition.  Our habits show the direction of our lives, so let's carefully examine habits that will help us become healthy leaders.

12

Mission

“The only reason why those born again of the Spirit are left in the world is that they may be His witnesses” - G. Campbell Morgan. Jesus has given us THE BEST news to proclaim to people. Let’s proclaim it with joy and vision!
